On Saturday February 19th, 2005, we went to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City as a family. As a family we have been to several zoos over the years, but it was 1993 since we were at the Hogle Zoo last: it was time for another visit.
Hogle Zoo is planning a special exhibit this summer and an endangered-species carousel for 2008. The zoo also is considering a holiday lights festival during Christmas time, although Dinsmore isn't completely sold on the idea.
When Dinsmore was hired on at Hogle Zoo in 1997 from the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, all eyes were watching. He was replacing 32-year director LaMar Farnsworth, who is credited with building up Hogle's infrastructure.
Hogle Zoo originally started out in Liberty Park, which is located between 500 and 700 East, and 900 and 1300 South in Salt Lake City. The original exhibits consisted of deer, monkeys, an elephant, and various North American birds and mammals.
The Hogle Zoo is a zoo located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the state's largest zoo, containing a variety of animals from different ecosystems. The zoo lies at the mouth of Emigration Canyon across from This Is The Place Heritage Park.

Utah's Hogle Zoo had a Mother's Day surprise when "Puddles," the golden lion tamarin gave birth to twins late this past Saturday night. An endangered species, there are estimated to be only about 1,000 individuals left in their native Brazil.
